Bechuanaland 1895 Last Day of Use BB Franking from Taungs

1895 Envelope from TAUNGS STATION to Kimberley franked QV 2d cancelled numeral 172 with proving Taungs Station cds NO 15 alongside. Red ink manuscript endorsement "Annexation of British Bechuanaland. / B.B. was taken over by the Cape Colony at 12pm Nov 15th 1895". A scarce last day of use of British Bechuanaland stamps within the Colony. VF, fresh, an attractive & colourful letter of social/historical interest.

On 16th November 1895 British Bechuanaland was annexed to the Cape Colony and Cape stamps were used from that date, although British Bechuanaland stamps continued to be used in the Bechuanaland Protectorate.
