c1844 GOVERNOR'S LETTER (MAITLAND): Folded letter wrapper endorsed "Free" addressed to "His Excellency Sir Peregrine Maitland KCB Governor in Grahamstown". Maitland was Governor for the period 1844-1847 and his correspondence is rare. A fine example of a Maitland letter sent during his tour of the Eastern Frontier.
