1849c MOSSEL BAY to Cape Town: Attractive folded wrapper bearing strike of the exceedingly rare MOSSEL BAY OCTAGONAL 33 handstamp. Addressed to "J Stewart Esq, Master of Supreme Court, Cape Town". The wrapper is endorsed "Paid" with rating "4" and intact red wax seal on reverse. A most elusive Octagonal handstamp which Frescura (2002) records as being in use for less than 1½ years. The first such we have handled. A rarity.
