1853 PORT ELIZABETH to LONDON: Neat small format blue folded entire ("Port Elizabeth, 17th March 1853") endorsed "Per First Steamer", rated "8" in red and then "1/-". Bearing an F-VF strike of the oval PORT ELIZABETH / PAID datestamp of Mar 18 185 (year slug omitted) and a VF strike of Cape Undated letter stamp as used on overseas mail. A rare surviving use on overseas mail. One of the premier Cape pre-adhesive markings.
