Cape of Good Hope 1882 5/- Sperati Forgery Study - Exceptional!

SPERATI FORGERY STUDY of the 1882 5/- (SG 45) comprising: 1) DIE PROOF taken in "issued colour" on buff paper with pencil signature "Jean de Sperati" at bottom. Accompanied by 2) the matching example of the 5/- forgery (rare) with forged squared circle cancellation similarly handstamped on reverse "Sperati/7/Reproduction", 3) a further example of the 5/- forgery (rare) with forged cds cancellation, pencil signature "Jean de Sperati" on reverse, PFSA certificate as forgery. Also 4) 9x photographic prints of the forged 5/- and examples forged cancels. Exceedingly rare and exceptionally interesting group. See clickable image of certificate below.

Specific differentiation: 1.Paper, perforations and watermarks are genuine. 2. Constant spot before the "C" in "CAPE". 3. Background projects below the "AP" of "CAPE". 4. Horizontal shading is broken below "P" of "CAPE" and under "E" of "HOPE". 5. Dot above the "E" of "FIVE" and between the frame line and leaf. 6. Colourless spot in the lower loop of the "S" in "POSTAGE". 7. "N" of "SHILLING" is more prominent than the other letters. 8. Printing is by photo-lithography as opposed to lithography.
