SHARE CERTIFICATE: 1886 THE ALPINE GOLD MINING COMPANY LTD, De Kaap Gold Fields, South African Republic Share Certificate No1893 issued in Kimberley for 100 shares of £1 each. QV 2/6 ochre Stamp Act revenue applied which paid the duty required under Act 20 of 25 July 1884 of 3d per £10 of subscribed capital. Somewhat weathered, wonderfully attractive, delightful piece. Ex van Puyenbroek. The subject goldfield was in the centre of Barberton, Transvaal. "De Kaap" was a headland formed off a spur of the Drakensberg mountains and the town considered one of the healthiest in South Africa.
