Cape of Good Hope 1900 Rare Mexican Wreck German Cachet

1900 WRECK OF THE "MEXICAN", GERMAN CACHET: QV ½d postcard (GPO Cape Town cds 4 APR) to Germany bearing strike in black of the very rare four-line German cachet "Aus der mit dem /untergegangenen Dampfer *Mexican* / beforderten Post aus Capstadt / Bahnpostamt No15". This German cachet particularly elusive on interesting wreck mail. Relevant arrival mark. Rare. The Union-Castle liner "Mexican" left Table Bay on 4th April 1900 for Southampton. At 2am on 5th April she was sunk by collision with the English transport "Winkfield" in fog approximately 80 miles out.
