Cape of Good Hope 1903 KEVII 1d Draghoender BONC 1098, Rare

1903 Proving KEVII 1d postal stationery card DRAGHOENDER to Germany. Full clear postmarks, cds, arrival mark and Barred Numeral 1098. A rare BONC. Frescura records the Boers ransacking the Draghoender post office in 1901. A manuscript cancel on cover dated 27/07/02 shows the postmaster's notation "Date stamp destroyed by Rebels". This is the reissued Barred Numeral (previously 381), ONLY two strikes recorded both in 1903.
