1863 Neat small format envelope to Scotland franked pair and 2 singles (4 stamps) Chalon 3d blue (SG 12) tied by strikes of Pietermaritzburg numeral canceller 1. Clear strike in red of Devonport Paid handstamp 25 SP on front, Edinburgh arrival mark on reverse. Adhesives overlapped top of envelope which has been opened out and pressed. An attractive 1/- franking, early use of the Packet Letter rate promulgated 31st March that year. F, scarce.
