NATAL: 1900 Cover to Machadodorp with two Transvaal ½d's tied by superb strong strike of the DANNHAUSER (at top of) oval rubber handstamp (with "ZAR" portion cut away) in violet-black dated 30 JAN. Additional similarly superb strike at left front. Three-line PK NEWCASTLE and Pretoria cds on reverse. Rare postmark, exceptionally fine example. Dannhauser is situated on the main railway line between Glencoe & Newcastle. It was a pivotal staging point for the Boer campaign into Natal. See additional image below.
