1900 TELEGRAM ENVELOPE used from BLOEMFONTEIN 11? JY 00 franked pair VRI ½d’s (SG 112) addressed "Mr Grant Rioch, Intelligence Dept, Johannesburg." Endorsed at top left "Not known (?)". Sent via Pretoria (12 JUL) arriving Johannesburg (14 JUL) and thence redirected back to the addressee in Eerste Rivier, Cape Colony re-entering the mails at the FIELD POST OFFICE #17 (JY 22) then being at Johannesburg. Eventual Eerste Rivier Station arrival cds of JY 31. An unusual much-travelled letter, full of character.
