  • 1903 KGV Government House / Wharf Issue MASTER PROOF OF KEY DIE of the wharf design frame & vignette in black
  • with UNCLEARED DUTY/VALUE TABLETS & SURROUND
  • on glazed card marked AFTER HARDENING.
  • Dated 4 DEC 02 (in blue), initialled "GCG".
  • Comparable to the cut down Key Die earlier state (Nov 11 02) viewable in the RPSL De La Rue Collection at page 5615.
  • Superb, a particularly rare state of the die, more so as composite of the frame & vignette (the so-called "Key Die") for these bicoloured stamps.
  • Typically only a single such impression was taken for checking of the master die roller/s at each of the after hardening, before striking and after striking production stages.
