South Africa 1910 2½d Union Commemorative Specimen SA2

1910 KGV 2½d blue Union commemorative (SG 1) HANDSTAMPED "SPECIMEN" 35½x4mm diagonally in violet (Type SA2), a very light strike. VF unused without gum (as removed from publicity card for this issue). A particularly rare version of the Specimen as distinct from the usually encountered small italic handstamp that was applied to the UPU-distributed specimens. This large format specimen defacement was applied to the stamps affixed to publicity cards for this issue. Few survive, rare. (cv£650+).
