  • Essay is affixed to card dated "20.5.24" and endorsed "duplicate" at base with reverse bearing oval handstamp in purple of De La Rue & Co, London.
  • The essay differs materially from the final accepted design which in any event was ultimately printed by Messrs Waterlow.
