Envelope franked 4d Air tied Pietersburg cds 30 JAN. Johannesburg & Durban backstamps. Registration slip as insert. SIGNED BY PILOT, MR WH PEARCE who flew the Broken Hill to Germiston stage. VF, a scarce signed cover thus. The sender incorrectly nominated Union Airways as the carrier; this was an Imperial Airways service. Burrell notes: "The mail carried on this flight, and particularly that despatched from the Union stopping places, was smaller than that carried on the special Christmas flight."
