c1916 KUIBIS to Luderitzbucht: The rare bottom half of the German rubber canceller from which the German eagle and the upper lettering has been cut away, UNDATED and struck IN BLACK ties SA KGV 1d adhesive (corner defect!) on a Censored cover. Backstamped transit Keetmanshoop 30 AUG & 31 AUG and arrival 1 SEP. VF, fresh & rare.
In recording this canceller, Putzel (1991) advises "It first appeared in June 1916 in violet... ALSO WITH ADDITIONAL ONE LINE DATE STAMP. The latter is considered by Busch to be very rare." We have separately handled an SA KGV 1d on piece, the Kuibus canceller in violet with a bold single line date stamp 28 DEC 1915, six months earlier than seen by Putzel.
