  • 1877 VR TRANSVAAL OVERPRINTS (BLACK):
  • 1d red on orange, imperf, OVERPRINT DOUBLE (SG 117c).
  • Horizontal pair F/U on small piece with clear to large margins all round.
  • Lightly cancelled with Pretoria numeral "1" leaving varieties clearly visible.
  • The doubling over entire overprints, both stamps, well-separated impressions.
  • Tiny imperfections as usual for these primitives mentioned for accuracy (suggestion pressed crease vertically at left; hanging bottom right corner well clear of margins).
  • Likely the unique known surviving pair thus.
  • An exhibition showpiece.
