1880 SOLDIERS LETTER from (indistinct but likely Standerton as per Regimental garrison) to London franked at the reduced PENNY CONCESSIONARY RATE with single QV Bourne Head 1d (SG 157) cancelled by concentric rings numeral postmark. "From No 946 Pte C Peters 58th Regiment" and counter-signed by his Commanding Officer at lower left as per regulations. London arrival "PAID" cds 26 MY in red on front. Transit mark of Durban 22 04 on reverse. A fine attractive example of this rare military franking.
