Transvaal 1902 SA Light Horse Letter, APO Kroonstad

TRANSVAAL: 1902 Envelope from "R S Thorold Capt, SALH" to England. Envelope superbly postmarked despatch ARMY POST OFFICE KROONSTAD cds JA 8 and alongside in red, the London PAID mark 31 JA. Backstamped on arrival FE 1. Very scarce mail associated with the smaller regiments. F-VF. The SOUTH AFRICAN LIGHT HORSE, 600 strong, was raised at the Cape on the 8th November 1899 specifically for the Boer War. In the first part of the war the regiment served through the Natal Campaign with Buller's force and thereafter in every battle they were required.
