Vryburg 1900 Boer Occupation Commercial Use Letter, Scarce

1900 BOER OCCUPATION OF VRYBURG: Foolscap envelope (253x122mm) bearing 6x Transvaal ZAR 1d Vurtheims all tied by strikes Vryburg cds AP 17 00 (with CGH removed from base). Schweizer Reneke transit and Wolmaransstad arrival marks on reverse. A desirable commercial use letter from the Leask correspondence. Minor imperfections, scarce piece. On the 21st October 1899 a Boer force of 1200 men under Gen Koos de la Rey occupied the town. On the 9th May 1900 the British forces recaptured Vryburg.
